President Nelson's 95th Birthday Party

 Melvin was able to get tickets for the 95th Birthday Celebration for President Russell M. Nelson and offered to let me have one. 

                                    I took the Frontrunner and TRAX  up to  Temple Square.

                                   I met Melvin, Kaitlyn and Lauren at the Conference Center.

                                                  Our seats were up in the balcony/.

              The celebration started out with a welcome,  the hymn "Press Forward Saints", and a prayer.

 The  Tabernacle Choir and Orchestras at Temple  Square performed at the celebration. 

                          Jenny Oaks and her children performed a medley from "The Sound of  Music".

     After a video presentation by President  Nelson's family Donny Osmond sang "You Raise Me Up".

                             The Gentri singers sang "Come Thou Font of Every Blessing".

 Next was a video presentation of President Nelson's Professional Work and  Service.  He was a        renowned  heart specialist before his call as an apostle. 

                                                         Nathan Pacheco also performed. 

 Another special part on the program was when President  Nelson  was shown in a video playing on the piano Chopin's "Prelude in C Minor".  They said that he has perfect pitch.

 The Bonner Family performed an arrangement of "Hallelujah,the Prophet's Medley" with  selections form "We Thank Thee O  God for a Prophet" and

 At the end of their performance all 21,000 of us in the Conference sang "Happy Birthday" to our president and prophet Russell M. Nelson. 

                 Another video presentation during the evening talked about President Nelson's ministry.

   President Eyring and President Oaks of the First Presidency both gave tributes to President  Nelson.

 In this photo that I  took you can see the 154 flags on either side of the stage representing nations where the church operates.

 President Nelson said, "I not only know that  God lives, that He loves His children.  He wants us to have joy, choose to turn to his holy presence and receive the blessings, all the blessings that He has in store for His faithful children.  If  I've learned anything certain in  my 95 years of life, it is that Jesus the Christ is the Son of God.  This  Church has been restored in thee latter days to prepare the world for the second coming of the Redeemer.  He provides the doctrine, covenants and ordinances that enable families to be perpetuated beyond the grave.  He is the light  and the life of the world.  Only through Him can we reach our divine destiny and eventual exaltation."  
I am so grateful for a living prophet on the earth  today.  I  bear my testimony that he is the Lord's anointed and receives revelation for us today as he directs His church here upon the earth.  I know that if we "follow the prophet we will not go astray".  I am so happy that I was able to be at his 95th birthday celebration. 

Grandma School with my Great Grandchildren

 I  invited my three four-year-old great grandchildren and their younger siblings to my home for Grandma School on  September 5, 2019. 

 My granddaughter and their mothers, Melanie and Rebekah remember coming to my home for Grandma School when they were the same age.   I plan to have Grandma School every Thursday while I am in Utah.  I want to teach my great grandchildren to share, follow directions and learn to sit  still for a few minutes. 

 I began Grandma School with pledging allegiance to the flag and talking about the flag and showing respect and then a prayer.  I had some fun books that I read to them followed by some fun songs and activities to have  them listen and follow directions such as turn around three times and touch your nose.  .  We talked about the different sounds the letters make and also  about shapes and colors.  It was a fun activity .

 I gave them some fun activity pages to learn how to  follow directions and begin learning tor ead.  We did such things as circle anything that is bigger than you,l draw as line under something that you can wear, etc. 

 My great grandchildren that come to Grandma School are Maggie, Caleb, Jonathan and Riley.  Samuel is not in this photo but he was here too.

                        It is so fun to have Maggie starting to recognize words and beginning to read. 

                                     I have a fun book for the very beginning readers. 

Katie is holding James.  He is  growing up so fast and is so cute.   I love having these precious little children in my home. 

Family Temple Sealing Session, Tyler Opens His Mission Call

 It was such a delight on September 3, 2019 to have Kenneth  and nine grandchildren meet me at the temple after my shift as an ordinance worker for a sealing session.  It was a wonderful spiritual experience to have our own session and to seal seven brothers to their parents, ten sisters to their parents and twelve husbands and wives to each other.  What a great blessing for them and for us too. 

 Tyler received his  mission call just before the temple session so after the sealing session we all met to watch him open up his  mission call. 

                  Tyler had his parents on a mission in Hawaii on the Internet so they could watch him. 

 We are excited to  learn that Tyler has been called to the Brazil Sao Paulo East Mission and is to report to the Missionary Training Center in Brazil on January 15, 2010.  He will be another awesome grandson serving a mission.  We feel so blessed. 

 I became acquainted with a great grandson, Oliver Jay for the first time.  He is the son of Jaron and Dania. 

He is a beautiful healthy baby and came to a  family where there is lots of love and where he  will be taught the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

Rolf and Jean and Leona and Lyn Visit

 Rolf and Jean came to visit me on September 2, 2019.  They were in town visiting a friend from their ward in Gilbert. 

                                                    I enjoyed a good visit with them.

            It was great to catch up on news from their family and remember times growing up together.

 Their friend Annette Greer was kind enough to bring my older brother and his wife for a visit. 

Leona and Lyn invited  me to go with them to the Orem Hale Theatre to see "Charley's Aunt" on September 9, 2019 and to eat at Chuck -o-Rama after.  When they brought me home I invited them to come in and  see my Memory Quilt.  I  enjoy spending time with my brothers and sisters.

Grandchildren Start Another Year at BYU

 We are a BYU Family.  I have lots of grandchildren returning for another year at BYU and four grandchildren starting for their first year at BYU.  aLst week Levi came and stayed with me for a couple of days before going to his honor camp.  Evan came from Ohio on August 28th .

                        He needed to stay for a couple of  days before he could move into his apartment.

 Jamie is staying for a few days too as she looks for work after graduating last Spring fromBYU.

 Kaitlyn stopped by to visit.  She is as BYU Sophomore this year. This semester she will attend BYU  London .  She is looking forward to all the great experiences she will be having.

 Kaitlyn was not at our reunion this summer so this  is the first time that she has seen my quilt.

 Tami came down to Provo to help Kaitlyn's little sister Ashley get settled for her freshman year at BYU.

                                                   Tami spent the night with me.

                                   She invited me to go with her to Freshman Orientation .

 We were welcomed at the new student orientation where four of  my grandchildren are just starting heir education at BYU.

   They had the students sit in one area and the parents in another area at the Marriott Center.

 They showed us  a film about the history of  BYU.  A photo of Brigham Young is on the screen.

 At the Parent Orientation I was given as BYU blanket for having the  most children graduated that  from BYU.  Nine of our eleven children are BYU graduates and 7 seven of their spouses also graduated from BYU.  I counted 72 from our family that have attended BYU or are currently attending BYU. We are a BYU family.

I enjoyed Brad Wilcox's message to the parents about how talented our children are to be accepted as students at BYU.  He talked about the value of getting a good education.  He also said that it is okay to compare but to not compete.  You can help each other because  you are on the  same team.

 Another granddaughter Bethany and her new husband, Luke, also returned for their second year at BYU/

Melvin brought family and friends down to help Ashley, one of my BYU Freshman granddaughters, celebrate her birthday.  It has been wonderful having so  much company.
