My Friends Visit Provo Pioneer Village

 I enjoy serving as a docent at the Provo Pioneer Village.  I  had friends come and visit on July 29, 2019.

 Matt comes each week to show our guests the Blacksmith Shop and  make things for them.

                                 Elaine brings as musical instrument to play at the Village. 

                     On  Monday evenings we have a volunteer storyteller come to tell stories. 

                                          The storyteller tonight told some tales about her family.

                             The storyteller tells stories under the tent at the Provo Pioneer Village.

 My friend Mark who  I  work with at the Conference Center brought his family to the village for a tour. 

                I  enjoyed showing them around the village.  They liked to catch  the hoop with the sticks.

                                             They also had fun on the stilts. 

                                 Mark helps his granddaughter  walk on the stilts. 

 Mark's granddaughters put on pioneer clothes for a photo riding on the pioneer covered wagon.

                  Mark's daughter wanted to be a pioneer too and get a photo on the wagon. 

This guest that visited said that her grandfather was James Loveless that lived in this home whichhas been moved to the  Provo Pioneer Village.

Nate and Melanie's Family come for Family Home Evening

     Kenneth and Jenni invited me to have Sunday dinner with them on July 28, 2019

  In the evening I invited Melanie and Nate and their family to come for family home evening. 

                          I enjoyed getting acquainted with Rosalie.  She is a cute little girl. 

           I gave a Home Evening lesson on "Remember Who You Are" with stories from our ancestors.

                                I enjoyed having Nate and Melanie and their family in my home.                                       

                                                     We had a nice home evening together.

               It is great having a home here in Provo where my grandchildren can come and visit.

BYU 3D Diorama

 I enjoyed going to  the BYU Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni house on July 25th 2019 to see the 3D Diorama of the  BYU Campus. 

 

                         The Diorama is made at a scale of 1 inch = 4.5 feet and is 9 feet by 12 feet in size. 

 It was fun to  see all the buildings on campus and reflect on the buildings where I had classes when I was a BYU student. 

             I am happy that they included the Provo Temple where I  enjoy so  much serving.

  President Hinckley's grandfather lived here at Cove Fort to assist the pioneers in their travels.

Pioneer Day Parade and Conference Center

Pioneer Day on July 24, 2019 came on a Wednesday this year so I took the Frontrunner up early so that I could see the Days of 47 Parade before serving at the Conference Center.

I got to Temple  Square in time for the last of the Pioneer Day Devotional at the Assembly Hall.

The monument to the Handcart Pioneers on Temple Square reminds me of the faith and sacrifice of those early pioneers.

                        I am grateful for my ancestors and for the great legacy that they left me. 

            The theme of the Days of  47 Parade this year was "Journey of Hope- AS Pioneer Legacy".

                             The participants were lining up ready for the start of the parade.

This beautiful sister invited me to come and sit by her with the chair I brought from home.  She insisted that I wear her hat because it was so hot and gave me sun screen.  I appreciate so much her kindness to a stranger and for not making  me feel  that I  was all alone. 

                          The men dressed like they would in the Mormon Battalion began the parade. 

                                 The Farmington High  School band led the parade. 

                                                  Next came pioneers pulling their handcarts.

                                   This helps us remember what we are celebrating today.

                           It took lots of people to carry this huge American  Flag.

                               We stood as the flag went by in the parade.

                  We had a good location to see all the beautiful floats as they came by.

                                     People dressed in their native costumes followed this float.

                                                "A lot has changed" from then until now.

                The horses and carriages were  on the other side of the road so were harder to see. 

                                The theme of this float was "Pioneer  Children's Stories".

                                There are pioneers in their  families  all around the world. 

  There was a big dragon on this float.  I don't know how this kept to the theme of the parade.

I like this flat with all the native costumes of Mexico.  I even saw one costume like the one I brought home from my mission in Mexico.

I enjoyed watching the parade.  I walked past the LDS Administration Building on my way to the Conference Center.

                     This is where our Prophet and Quorum of  Twelve Apostles have their offices.
