Construction of Gilbert Arizona Temple

Jordan took me to the airport in Salt Lake Saturday morning, August 20, 2011 to return to my home in Arizona. It is good to visit other places but also good to return to my home.
Sunday, August 21, 2011 Amy invited me to her home for dinner.
Monday, Mark and Marlene invited me to their home for home evening.
I rode with them out to see the new Gilbert Temple being built.
It is great to see the progress being made.
We had our picture taken on the viewing deck where we could see the construction of the temple. You can now tell the basic shape the temple is going to be.
They had a indoor display set up with some missionaries to tell the visitors that come about the temple.
This is a photo showing how the Gilbert Temple will look when completed. I had a bad fall out at the temple. The cement was uneven and I wasn't looking where I was going and I fell. I skinned my knee on one leg, my ankle on another and my elbow. I also got lots of black and blue spots on my arm and tore my pnts. I am grateful that I didn't break any bones. I enjoyed being with my children and grandchildren for their home evening. Rebekah an d Jaron left the next day for BYU.

Where Dr. Kenneth works

Kenneth had to work all night on August 18, 2011.
He invited me to come down to the Utah Valley Hospital to see where he works.
I couldn't take pictures of the newborn babies that he takes care of but enjoyed so much seeing them and the special care that Dr. Kenneth gives them.
I love this picture of Christ and the newborn baby. How fitting to have it in the Newborn ICU where the tiny babies are cared for.
It was wonderful to see Kenneth's picture on the board as a member of the Neonatology Team.
Kenneth went to medical school for sixteen years to be part of the team of doctors.
I am so happy that he set a goal and then worked hard to achieve it.
Jenni and his children all helped him realize his dream of a special medical field where he can give so much service.
Kenneth doesn't get to spend much time at his desk. He has all of his medical books handy for reference if he needs them.
I am so grateful that Kenneth was able to get a good education and is now giving of that knowledge in changing the lives of others.
Thank you Kenneth for showing me where you work and the tiny babies that you help live.

My Provo, Utah Family

It was great to be able to spend time with my children and grandchildren while attending BYU Education week from Augusts 16-20, 2011. They made it a great time for me.
Jared and Marcus left early in the morning for band practice.
One morning they left early to go to the temple.
Betsy enjoyed having her cousin Ashley stay with her while we went to Aida, the musical on campus during Education Week.
One night Jared and Marcus walked with me across campus to where they had their car parked.
Betsy showed me her new school supplies.
Of course everything has owls on it. Betsy and Ashley both love owls.
Kenneth spent long hours at work at the hospital. He is a busy doctor. We enjoyed times with him when he was home.
Adam loves to read.
One day Marcus wore the shirt that his parents brought him when they returned from their cruise to Alaska.
Jared is learning to play the piano.
Andy enjoyed having me read to him.
We read together a long chapter book.
Betsy showed me what she has learned on the piano. I love being with my grandchildren.

BYU Memories

While I was on the BYU Campus on August 19, 2011 I enjoyed walking through the McKay Building.
I graduated from BYU in 1958 with a major in elementary education.
I spent lots of time in this building because I worked in the Student Teaching office besides having all of the classes from my major here.
I enjoyed seeing all the exhibits about David O McKay in the building.
I enjoyed returning to BYU. Walking through the McKay Education Building brought back a flood of memories.

Kenneth's Cub Scout Pack Meeting

Kenneth had a pack meeting on August 17, 2011 for the Cub Scouts in four different wards.
Kenneth works hard as the Cub Scout Pack Leader. I am glad that I was there to help him.
Kenneth started the meeting with some fun games.
He then gave our some awards.
Everyone was having a good time.
Some of the boys were able to reach into the treasure chest after receiving their awards.
Kenneth has lots of boys to keep record of the achievements and give the appropriate awards.
The boys are excited to begin their trail to become an Eagle Scout.
The Cub Scout gives his mom a pin to thank her for her help.
Another cub scout and his mother come to receive the honors earned.
Some of the boys achieved the Arrow of Light before advancing to Boy Scouts.
Kenneth explained to the boys about the Arrow of Light symbol.
Kenneth planned some fun activities for the boys.
Kenneth talked to the boys about being honest.
The activity was designed to help the boys be honest.
The evening ended with refreshments.
I enjoyed watching Kenneth interact with the Cub Scouts and teach them. I am happy that I could be at the Pack Meeting to give my support.
