Prom Queen

Jamie made a beautiful prom queen on May 14, 2011. What a great honor and great way to end her high school memories.

High School Baccalaureate

I am grateful that I was able to be with Jamie for her Baccalaureate Ceremony as she graduates from High School. Miriam has been in charge of the city wide Baccalaureate for the past nine years. She does a great job.
The students file into the Lewis Central High School as the band plays "Pomp and Circumstances".
We had the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the band played "Star Spangled Banner".
Our granddaughter Jamie welcomed all the seniors.
Morgan introduced Tony who was the guest speaker. She said he was her boss as she read a bio about him.
Tony gave a great talk using the theme "What have you done with your name?"
He also told the students that "Freedom of choice is a God-given eternal principle that carries with it moral responsibilities for the choices made".
He told them that "When you make a choice you are choosing the consequences of that choice".
He talked about a sign at his Alma matter that says, "Enter to Learn and go forth to Serve".
Tony ended his talk with the request that the students express their appreciation to those who have helped them along the way, especially their parents and family.
Jamie announced that after some musical numbers by the choir and band that the closing hymn to be sung by all the congregation was "Amazing Grace".
Miriam accompanied the hymn on the piano.

Tony and Miriam make a great team.
They complement each other with their talents and desire to serve.
I am happy that I could be there with them.
It was great to be at a small part of Jamie's high school graduation. I expect her to go on to do great things.
These are special friends made through common interests with their high school students through the years.
They also have a daughter who is graduating from High School.
Tony took the beautiful flower arrangement to the church so that more people could enjoy it.
It was raining so we waited for Tony to bring the car.
Granddaughters Jamie and Kayla are best friends.

More Granddaughter's Activities

I enjoyed so much all the activities of my grandchildren that I got to be involved in on my quick visit to Council Bluffs on May 10th and May 11th, 2011.
I enjoyed Kayla's orchestra concert. This is the first time I have been in their Abraham Lincoln High School auditorium.
They have a great orchestra and played some beautiful numbers.
I am so happy that Kayla is doing so well on the violin.
She got a one on her violin solo at the district competition.
Kayla received a letter for her orchestra participation.
Miriam teaches seminary at 5:45 AM every school day morning.
She invited me to give the lesson the morning I was there.
I taught a lesson on three of the prophets.
The prophets I was assigned were Ezra Taft Benson, Howard W. Hunter and Gordon B. Hinckley.
It was difficult to give the highlights of their lives in just thirty minutes. I enjoyed teaching the lesson. I enjoy teaching and these were a great group of young people.
Jamie is excited to be admitted to BYU next year and is anxious to finish her high school education.
Tony keeps busy with his church responsibilities and running his pizza stores.
I like the new wall arrangement Miriam made in her home showing the temple marriages of some of their children and setting a good example to the rest.
Tony planted flowers in this cute decoration on their front lawn as they prepare for Jamie's open house to honor her for her many achievements in high school.
Miriam showed me their bedroom that they have redone since I last visited.
I like all the pictures she has displayed of fun family events.
Each picture brings back so many many memories.
The grandchildren were all so cute when they were babies and they still are.
Miriam likes pictures like I do and has them all over their home.

We went to visit Skyler and Rebekah when Skyler was home for lunch.
They have a beautiful home and a cute baby. Alicia is like a little doll.
Miriam helped make posters for Kayla for the school election coming up.
Kayla is running for student council next year. I hope she wins the election.
I told Jamie that I couldn't return for her high school commencement so want to honor her now as she graduates from high school at the top of her class.
Miriam is going to miss her daughter so much next year while she is at BYU.
This was a great opportunity to take a three generations picture.
Jamie and her friend have done lots of Decca projects together.
They were being honored for their achievements at the Decca banquet that I was privileged to attend.
Two of their Decca projects won the best in state so they were invited to Orlando, Florida for the National Decca competition.
They took a group photo of the students that were invited to Orlando.
Jamie said that her Decca advisor was one of her favorite high school teachers.
They honored her with a cute award.
