I invited my granddaughter Rebekah to fly to Salt Lake City with me on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.
I wanted to share with her the beauties of Temple Square. It was raining when we arrived.
The flowers are still very beautiful.
We enjoyed walking around Temple Square enjoying the beauty of God's creations.

We walked past the monuments commemorating the restoration of the Priesthood.
The grounds are always beautiful around the temple.

We walked over to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. This is the lobby.

Rebekah will soon be a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala.

We took one last photo before I left for the Conference Center. Rebekah is enjoying having time to explore all the many things to see on Temple Square. I am so happy that we were able to spend this time together.
I planned a "After Finals Celebration" for my BYU Grandchildren on April 18, 2012. I invited them to meet me at the Conference Center at 4 pm for a tour and then a Temple Session.
There was a fire in the Conference Center on Monday evening which started in the mechanical room. The room is directly above the pulpit in the auditorium. Two overhead sprinklers doused the fire quickly but thousand of gallons of water poured into the Conference Center. It was closed until our shift while they pumped out the water and then set up fans to dry the carpet. We couldn't take tours down to the podium area but everything else was normal.
Before my grandchildren came I took a couple of other tours. This family came from Boston, Vermont and Utah for a tour.
The sister from Boston brought her Mom from Vermont to Utah to visit another sister.
My next tour was with two sisters, one from Bountiful, Utah and the other from Boston, Massachusetts who had been missionary companions in Berlin, German twenty years ago. My next assignment was at the Plaza Desk to take telephone calls and make appointments with people calling in for tours and to watch people coming in and out of the building.
My last tour was with five of my BYU grandchildren that I invited to meet me at 4 pm. I had hoped that ten would be able to come but I am grateful to Rebekah, Melissa, Travis, Braden and Derek that came for a tour. I enjoyed letting them know of my love for the Conference Center.

It is great to see the original paintings of the Book of Mormon stories.
This painting at the Conference Center shows the appearance of the Savior in the Americas following His resurrection and ascension as had been foretold by Book of Mormon prophets.
Rebekah commented that she will be teaching people similar to these as she serves her mission in Guatemala.
They liked seeing themselves in the mirror and looking down at the fountain far below where we began our tour.
Some of them wanted their photos taken by the portraits of the First Presidency.
This painting of the Parable of the Ten Virgins brought memories for Rebekah of being one of the ten virgins in the parable portrayed at the Easter Pageant.
This fountain on the roof is directly over the podium in the Auditorium.
It was a wonderful opportunity during the tour to let my grandchildren know of my testimony and love of the Lord and His church restored again in these Latter-days. I hope that I can be a good example to my posterity.
We went together to an endowment session at the Salt Lake Temple while Rebekah and Melissa did baptisms. I had family names for all of us.
I am happy to spend this time with Derek before he leaves on his mission to Brazil. I always enjoy being with my grandchildren.
We walked over to the new City Creek Mall.
I treated them all to ice cream to celebrate the evening together after finals.
I enjoyed seeing the Salt Lake Temple lit up as we walked back to Melissa's car parked at the Conference Center.

I am so grateful for my wonderful grandchildren and the opportunity to build memories together.
