Indonesian Pot Luck

Sunday afternoon, April 11, 2010 Stuart and Emily offered their home so that we could have an Indonesian Potluck. Tutik and Anggita made yellow rice, dried fish they brought from Indonesia and other delicious dishes and Roeland and Lily brought chicken. The other students attending BYU Hawaii from Indonesian also brought delicious food.

We counted 39 people that came to enjoy being together. We were happy for a nice day and a nice back yard and lots of good visiting.
These are some of the Indonesians that came to our Indonesian pot luck dinner. It was so good to see everyone again. I have so many memories of fun times in Indonesia. These people are the greatest people on the earth.
It was hard to tell Roeland and Lily and their family goodbye. We have enjoyed the time together in Hawaii. I hope we will soon meet again.
Fred and Rauna took Tutik, Sugiyanto and Anggita to the airport for their flight back to Indonesian. There was not room for me with all of the luggage. We have had a wonderful time together and built memories that will last a lifetime.

Hawaii Temple

Sunday, April 11, 2010 after our church meetings we walked around the Hawaiian Temple grounds.
The view as you look up toward the temple was magnificent.
We were disappointed that the temple is closed for remodeling so we were not able to go to a session there.
We enjoyed walking around the Temple Visitor's Center. They had lots of informative exhibits there to tell the visitor's about the temple and about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We had our picture taken in front of the beautiful Christus showing Christ with his arms outstretched inviting all to come to him.
Around the top of the Hawaiian temple are beautiful carvings taken from the scriptures.
The grounds around the temple were beautiful. We enjoyed so much looking at each monument.
Replicas of the carvings around the top of the temple were shown with a guide to what the different carvings were.
Each side of the temple has carvings of scriptures from the different standard works.
The Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon and Church History were all represented in the carvings.
It was a beautiful afternoon. We enjoyed so much our walk around the beautiful grounds around the Hawaii Temple.
From the temple we had a beautiful view to the beach and the Pacific Ocean.
These trees are found all over Hawaii. We were told that they are known as "monkey trees".
This photo shows some more "monkey trees". We found them very fascinating.
We enjoyed all the native vegetation on the grounds of the Hawaiian temple.

Carinne'sTemple Endowment

We were happy to be with our granddaughter Carinne when she took out her endowment at the Arizona Temple on April 17, 2010 in preparation to serving a mission in Argentina.
There were lots of family members with Carinne at the temple to lend our support.
Fred and Rauna were grateful to have another daughter worthy to go to the temple.
Carinne is our 18th grandchild to go to the temple. We are so blessed to have so many worthy grandchildren setting the example for those that follow.
Sisters, Adrianne and Carinne enjoy the temple experience together.
Carinne's Uncle Ray and Cori came to the temple with us to give their support.
We had a nice evening together.

Grandchildren visit

I am always happy when Grandchildren come to visit. Dallin called and asked if he could come over and shower and change before going to an interview. He was working in this area of town.
I hope Dallin does well on his interview. I am grateful for him and our other grandchildren that are doing great things with their lives and striving to live the Gospel while getting a good education.

Breath of Life Performance- Part 2

During the intermission of Breth of Life at the Polynesian Culture Center the evening of April 10, 2010 we were given a sherbert delight.
The rest of the show was delightful as we experienced the symbolic odyssey of a warrior named Mana from birth to adulthood.
To win the girl he loves Mana proved his worthiness by walking on fire.








The fire knife dance and the fire walkers were exciting to watch.





We enjoyed a great evening with our friends, Tutik, Surgiyanto and Anggita from Indonesia. I am so grateful that I was able to spend this memorable time with them. We made lots of memories. Thanks Fred and Rauna for coming to Hawaii with me and making all of this possible.

Breath of Life Peformance

We finished our time at the Polynesian Culture Center on April 10, 2010 by attending the "Breath of Life" which is the largest Polynesian Song and Dance Review in the world.
The large cast were dressed in authentic attire with performers representing the six island nations of Polynesia.
They shared during the evening show the traditions and culture of Tonga, Hawai, New Zealand, Samoa, Tahiti and Fiji.
