Enjoying Grandchildren before Conference Center Summer Party

 I stayed in Utah after serving at the Conference Center so that I could attend our Conference Center Shift Summer Party on Thursday, June 18, 2015. 

                                        Melvin and Tami always make me feel welcome. 

 Kaitlyn and Ashley had to drop off their luggage at the church for their Youth Conference the next day when they leave for the Manti Pageant. 

 We then went to the temple.  Kaitlyn and Ashley were baptized by their Dad for 20 of their family members who died without having the gospel.  I enjoyed going with them and was thrilled to have my grand daughters say tht they enjoy going to the temple.

                                   I enjoyed spending the day with my grandchildren.

 Tanner is doing really well on the piano.  He even composed a song and wrote it out on music paper his mom gave him.

                                    I enjoyed hearing Kaitlyn playing the hymns so well.

           Carter showed me his car that he made in kindergarten to watch a drive in movie.

         Ashley gets together the things she needs for hr skit at the youth conference.

 The girls left just after noon for their Youth Conference.  They planned to see the Manti Pageant.

                                 I had a wonderful day enjoying my grandchildren.

One of the things that I enjoyed most was reading books to my grandchildren. They all love books.

                                     The boys had fun out on their swing set.

                                           It was fun to watch them play.

                           They had lots of fun things to play on at the swing set.

                                                    Logan put together a car puzzle.

                                            He did a good job putting it together.

                            There is always a joy when you have completed the puzzle.

 Dwight and Annette came by for me at 4 pm to take me with them to our Conference Center Summer Shift party near the Big Cottonwood Canyon in South Salt Lake City.

 It was held at the home of two of the missionaries that I serve with.   They said that where they are living was a place where the teamsters spent the night as they hauled granite from the quarry to build the Salt Lake Temple.

 I enjoyed visiting with the wonderful people that I serve with at the Conference Center. 

We had a nice meal and pioneer program. We sang a cute song about Grandma's Lye soap.  This was the same that we did at our Sunset at the Mississippi pioneer program in Nauvoo so it brought back lots of memories.

 Nadine gave a poem about Mount Olympus.  They have a beautiful biew of the mountain from their home.

 Tom gave a pioneer slide show entitled, "Colonization of the Mountain West- Te Rest of the Story.

 We had to leave the party early so that I could make my flight back to Arizona.  This is as beautiful view form the plane.

                                              The sunset was beautiful from the plane.

Salt Lke Temple

                       I enjoyed walking through Temple Square on June 17, 2015.

                            The Spring flowers in the flower beds are beautiful.

       I took this photo looking toward tht Confrence Center from the South Visitor Center.

 In the South Visitor Center I enjoyed a made to scale model of the inside of the Salt Lake Temple.  This shows the furnishings, wallpaper, pictures on the wall and everything made to scale. 

 This model is great to see the interior of the temple.  After a temple is dedicated only those Latter-day Saints that have  recommends can enter.

 The grnaite to buiold the temple was hauled from the Quarry in the Little Cottonwood Canyon.

                                      It had to be hauled twenty miles to the temple site.

                                   It took the pioneers forty years to complete the temple.

 One of the first things that Brigham Young did when the pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley was to select a site for the temple.

 I love to see the temple.  It always gives me a feeling of love and reverence for the Savior and his great plan of happiness.

                             The auditorium at the Conference Center seats 21,000 people.

 Every week the garden on the roof of the Conference Center has new beautiful wild flowers.

 I gave a tour to these seven college professors that were in Salt Lake to grade the 3,000 advanced placement chemistry tests.  It was a fun group to take on a tour of the Conference Center.

 My next tour was with this man from Taiwan. I told them Janae is serving a mission  in Taiwan and  my grandsons Travis and Hyrum also  served there.

Another one of my tours was with this couple from the Netherlands..  They asked lots of interesting questions.  They were interested to know that a grandson Kasey served his mission in their country.

My last tour was with a family of members from Virginia where he is as professor at the Southern Virginia University.. 

                                             They enjoyed the Book of Mormon Gallery.

I was happy to see Toni at the Conference  Center.  We were companions on our trip to Spain last year.  She is now a tour guide.
