Richardson Review 10-27-08

Richardson Review 10-27-08

Dear Children and Grandchildren,

We are so blessed to be able to participate in so many great activities that all of you are involved with.  You bring us so much joy with the good things that you are involved with and that we are able to share with you. Tuesday night I was happy to see Dale get his Arrow of Light award in Cub Scouting.  They invited his parents up to give him the award then an Indian Chief had a special ceremony for the boys.  I went from there to Mesa High to Chelsea's orchestra concert.  Chelsea performed some beautiful numbers with the Symphonic Strings.

We were sad to miss Mesa High School homecoming parade and football game because of Kasey and Emily's wedding open house in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Rebekah was kind to invite me over to where they were building the float so I was able to take some pictures of the Senior Float.  Rebekah made a cute jackrabbit directed the movie to go along with the Homecoming theme, "Light, Camera and Action". We were sorry to not get to see the Junior Class float that Nathan worked on.  We learned when we got home last night that Rebekah was selected as the Homecoming Queen and appreciate the cute pictures that Marlene sent of the Homecoming Royalty.  We were not surprised that Rebekah was selected because of her beautiful smile and kindness to everyone.

Amy went out to Council Bluffs with us late Thursday night to help Miriam and Tony with the wedding open house for Kasey and Emily.  She gave lots of service all weekend with all the preparations of decorations and food.  It was fun to be there when Emily and Kasey arrived from their honeymoon.  They went to Boston, Maine, Vermont, etc and enjoyed the fall leaves, Joseph Smith monument at his birthplace and also Plymouth Rock, etc.  Tony and Miriam had a house full when Skyler and Rebekah and Bret and Carrie arrived from BYU.  We enjoyed a good visit with these special young couples. We all went to Colby's football game and watched another great night of football.  It was senior night so Colby and his parents were honored at the beginning of the game.   Colby had quite a cheering section as we all sat together and cheered as he intercepted the ball a couple of times and one time was able to run it in for a touchdown and helped to win. They kept mentioning his name as he had some great plays in defense and offence.  He never got to rest.

Miriam had everything ready for the decorations for the wedding open house but it still took lots of work to get it all set up. Miriam had corsages made ahead for everyone.  We had cute table decorations with vases filled with blue and green water and gold fish swimming around in them with flowers on top.  Tony put up rope lights across the ceiling of the hall and Miriam had lots of lights that she put all around in beautiful settings with the lawn furniture and green plants they brought it. Amy supervised all of the cutting of food for the chocolate fountain and the cheese dip that she made for the vegetables.  Elder Ellingson came with his companion to the stake center to clean the font and were so surprised to find us there.  He is so involved with his missionary work that he didn't know we were even having a wedding reception.

All of our hard work paid off because the cultural hall looked so beautiful and the refreshments were great and Kasey and Emily seem so happy together.  They had a big crowd of friends that came to honor the wedding couple and it was a delightful evening.  We know that they will have lots of happiness as they begin an eternity together.   I hope all of our posterity that have not yet married can see the joy that comes from a temple wedding and prepare to be worthy for one.  It has truly been a great time.

We hope you all have a great week and can feel the love your Grandpa and I have for each of you.

My love always, Mom, Grandma, Lavona

Richardson Review 10-19-08

Richardson Review 10-19-08

Dear Children and Grandchildren,

What a great blessing to see our oldest grandson, Kasey, worthy to take his bride, Emily to the Provo Temple to be married for the eternities.  Their wedding was beautiful.  Kasey and Emily are so happy.  To add to our joy we had 3 of our children (Miriam and Tony, Ray and Melvin and Tami with us in the temple with 8 of our grandchildren (Kasey and Emily, Skyler and Rebekah, Carrie and Bret, Bonnie and Spencer, Jordan, Carl, Erin and Dantley, and Adrianne) to witness the beautiful ceremony.  It was so cute to see the excitement of Melvin and Tami's three little girls (Kaitlyn, Ashley and Lauren) as they waited outside of the temple for the bride and groom to come out and to see for themselves the joy of a temple marriage. Also waiting at the temple for us were Braden and Alison, students at BYU and Carinne down from BYU-Idaho and Kasey's little sister Kayla and siblings Colby and Jamie who flew to Utah after their outstanding football game where Colby made two touchdowns and caught unbelievable passes and Jamie cheered their team on to victory.  I know it was hard for Miriam and Tony to miss their game Friday night but they would not have been anywhere else than at their son's temple wedding.  We are grateful for airline travel that allowed Jamie and Colby to arrive just before the wedding (thanks to Melvin and Tami who picked them up at the airport).

I hope you enjoy as I do the picture of Kasey and Emily and how happy they look as they came out of the temple as an eternal family.  Also I had to include a picture of all of our posterity at their wedding, Kasey's grandparents and our college grandchildren (all that I could get together for a picture).  It was truly a beautiful day and one we have all looked forward to since the day that Kasey came into our lives.  I couldn't stop taking pictures because both Kasey and Emily had such a glow about them. I also included a picture of Emily's family-all six of the Mott children were in the temple to support their youngest sister.  They are such a great family.

Miriam and Tony hosted a wonderful luncheon in a nearby church and then took more pictures up in the canyon.  I am sure they will share some of those with you.  The reception held at the Mott home in Orem was beautiful.  There could have been nothing to make it better except for all of you to be with us.  We were surprised at the people we knew that came to support us.  Kasey and Emily are now on the honeymoon and will return to Iowa for an openhouse next weekend.  Amy plans to travel with us out there to help with honoring them in Council Bluffs.  I am so grateful for all of you that are bringing us so much joy.

Last Monday night we had Mark and Marlene and their family here for dinner to celebrate Marlene's birthday.  Afterwards we had a home evening and we talked about the joy Marlene has been to us all these many years.  We let her choose a book from our library for her birthday. So, it has been a great week.  I hope you enjoy these pictures half as much as I do.  There is so much joy when you are doing what the Lord wants you to do. Grandpa and I send lots of love to all of you and our prayers that you will all have a great week.

Lots and lots of love, Mom, Grandma, Lavona Richardson

My Day CUTE

Dear Children and Grandchildren,

I thought this was cute.  Love, Mom, Grandma Richardson

My Day...

I didn't want to get out of bed this morning

I woke up with stiff neck

I washed my hair but couldn't do a thing with it

Made breakfast for the cranky youngsters

and fed the baby a bottle

She dribbled milk all over herself and my new blouse

I loaded up the kids in the carseat and took them to daycare & school

I was late for work, and traffic was a nightmare

My husband called my cell phone to tell me
he got laid off from his construction job

I got to the office (I'm a Tech Analyst)

My supervisor chewed me out

for misplacing the mouse

I went out for lunch and got caught in the rain

I left work early to pick up my new eye glasses (wrong size)

I then picked up the kids from school & daycare

Fed them all a quick meal

Drove the boys to karate lessons

And, then the girls to tap & ballet

When we got back home, all they wanted to do was watch TV

and, sing karaoke instead of doing their homework

After much chaos, they took their baths & got ready for bed

And after m uch hounding, they brushed their teeth

Then I read them their nightly bedtime stories

They finally went to sleep

All of this daily stress is causing me to gain weight

So, I tried doing some aerobics in the living room

Uh oh, I don't think all the 'fast-food' and
exercise is agreeing with me

Now, I think I'm getting a migraine

and, a runny nose

I'm pretty certain it's the flu

After a long and grueling day, I crawled
into bed and was just drifting off when

I realized I had forgotten something

Dear Lord, despite the topsy-turvy day
I've had, I give thanks to you

and for all the blessings you've bestowed upon me
and my family.

And next week, I'm off to the spa and pool for some

much-needed rest and relaxation with my girlfriend.

That's how MY life is going......so, how are things with YOU?
