Family Home Evening at the Provo Pioneer Village

I enjoyed having family and friends come to the Provo Pioneer Village on Monday evening, June 5, 2017.

I took this family on tour from Idaho.  They were in town for the boys to attend BYU Football camp.

                  Kenneth and Jenni and their family arrived soon after we opened for a tour.

                                    This was a great home evening activity for them.

Betsy and Andy put on pioneer clothes for a photo with thier grandmother at the Pioneer village.

                                        They enjoyed playing with the climbing bears.

                Kenneth and Jared had a race to see who could get the bear up to the top first.

                                        My grandchildren enjoyed walking on the stilts.

                                 Jared was happy when he learned out to walk on the stilts.

                                  Kenneth and Jenni visited the store at the Pioneer village.

                                          The children enjoy plying the pioneer games.

                               This was another fun game throwing the loops and checking them.

Randall and Lidiette and Tyler and Jennifer and their baby Mila came for home evening at the Pioneer Village also

                                         I t is so fun to give my family and friends tours.

                                           Lidiette enjoys being a grandmother.

               Randall is like my sons.  We have shared so many experiences through the years.

                                            Everyone has to try out the stilts.

                                           Jennifer was excited when she could walk on them.

                                           Tyler figures out how to make the stilts work also.

                                                        Everyone had to try  them out.

                                                  Lidiette got to be really good on the stilts.

                             Time to toss the loops and catch them for another fun pioneer game.
                               
                                       I enjoyed seeing this family enjoy the pioneer games.
                           
                                       Tyler didn't want to leave until he tried the stilts again.

          This was the first Edgemont School. and is now enjoyed at the Provo Pioneer Village.  

                                                      It was so fun to give this family a tour.

                   Jennifer and Tyler are cute parents.  You can see how much they love Mila.

                                                     We had lots of tours during the evening.

                              These three men were from India, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

           Another tour was with this couple are attending school at the Utah Valley University.

                           This wagon at the village was used by  the United States Goverment.

                                             There are lots of handcarts on display at the Village.

The headliines on of Provo Daily Herald featured the Pioneer Village and Steve, our director.

I remember playing with one of these at Grandma Stratton's home when we visited her as a child.

These three men from Provo on another tour asked lots of good questions and were tun to take on a tour.

Mila's Baby Blessing

I was invited on June 4, 2017 to the baby blessing of Mila, the daught er of Jennifer and Tyler Largo

             It was so good to be there with the family that I have known for so many years.

                                             Cindy is the baby's great grandmother.

                                         Randall and Lidiette are the happy grandparents.

                                       Tyler gave their baby a beautiful name and blessing.

Tyler is as Navajo Indian so he gave Mila a Navajo middle name Nizhoni which in Navajo means beautiful.

                                    I enjoyed a good visit with Cindy after the baby blessing.

                                      All of these people have been friends for many years.

                                    Years ago Randall took the missionary discussions in our home.

Later in the afternoon they all came over to my home to visit.  Thomas flew up with Cindy, his grandmother to be at the baby blessing.

           Kenneth and Betsy came over to my home to visit with them while they were here.

My granddaughter Janae is staying with me this summer on the weeks that she doesn't have work as a counselor at EFY.  I don't see much of her because she is usually with her boyfriend Andrew.

Adam's Eagle Project

                    I spent most of Saturday, June 3, 2017 helping Adam with his Eagle Project.

For his project he provided the volunteers to set up and be at the various booths for a carnival for a reunion for the babies and their families that graduated from the NICU at the Utah Valley Hospital .

                              We went over to the Lions  Park early this morning to set up.

                         The first thing we had to do was to unload everything from the truck.

                                         We then set up the tents for the various booths.

                                     We had red plastic tablecloths to put on all the tables.

                                                 This is one of the things that I helped with.

                          There were lots of tables for the thousand that were expected to attend.

                        The tablecloths had to all be taped down so they would stay in place.

                                    I was happy for some girls that came to help me.

                                                                  We set up the fish pond.

                                    All of the tables in the various booths had to be covered also.

                                                                 The cake walk was set up.

                                                   The bean bag toss will be in this booth.

                                    Adam organized everything  as part of his Eagle Project.

                                      Jared and Hyrum brought in all the bottled water.

                                               Some of the volunteers help set up the booths.

                     We set up the signs advertising the Carnival on the bridge going into the park.

                                                 The booths are all set up for the carnival.

                             Kenneth has been good to help his son get everything organized.

                              At this booth they have cotton candy and pop corn to give out.

 Jamie and Betsy made a poster showing the various things they could have painted on their faces at the Face Painting booth.

 At this booth they placed various dress up clothes to put on to have their photo taken.

 We had a little break and then went back in the afternoon to be ready in the various booths at the carnival when the people came.

                           Adam organizes the volunteers and tells them their responsibility.

                               I was assigned to help Jared supervise the two bounce houses.

                                         It was our responsibility to keep everyone safe.

 The people coming first signed in at the booth and got cards to allow them to have pizza and ice cream.

                                        Children started coming to the bounce houses to play.

                                       The line kept getting longer of people signing up.

 Kenneth saw lots of babies and their families that he helped start life at the Neo Natal unit at the hospital.

             It was a great reunion for the doctors and nurses and the babies they worked with.

                           This family shows Dr. Richardson how healthy their baby is now.

                                          There were lots of fun activities for the children.

                                                Betsy and Jamie did as lot of face painting.

                                           There were lots of twins at the NICU Reunion.

                                                    They also had coupons for ice cream.

            They had a poster where those coming could post pictures and thank you notes.

                              Adam kept checking to be sure everyone was doing their jobs.

                                                              It was a hot afternoon.

                                                  The children loved the bounce houses.

                                                 They kept coming back again for more fun.

 The carnival for the graduates of  the newborn care unit at Utah Valley and their families was crowded all afternoon.

                                              I enjoyed watching people have a good time.

 It was a reunion for lots of families that spent lots of time together as their babies were starting out life in the NICU .

                                                               More families kept coming.

                                    All the volunteers in the various booths were kept busy.

 The face painting booth always had a line waiting to have something painted on their face.

                                                      Betsy and Jamie did as great job.

                       I enjoy seeing the pictures and reading the thank you notes on the poster.

 They had pens and tape available for each one that wanted to add something to the poster.

  I especially enjoyed seeing this photo of Kenneth and one of the babies that graduated.

             The doctors and nurses at the Utah Valley Hospital provide such a good service.

                               There were some beautiful photos and thank you notes.

                                      This will be hung up at  the hospital for a while.

                                   I loved seeing all the happy people and their cute babies.

                                                     There were some cute face painting.

                                              We all enjoyed helping children have fun.

                                      Adam organized lots of volunteers to help with the carnival.

                              Some of the children were still struggling but grateful to be alive.

                                                       Andy helped out at the fish pond.

                                    This tub kept the bottled water cold on a hot afternoon.

                       After the carnival was over we started taking down the booths.

                                                We put everything away to use again next year.

                                                        This was a great afternoon.

                                                           Kenneth saw lots of friends.

Adam's Dad and a nurse from the Neo Natal Department at Utah Valley Hospital gave him lots of help as he completed his Eagle project.  I am happy that I could be part of helping with the Carnival.  It was a great afternoon.
