Thursday Update on My Home

                          This is the update on my home on Thursday, June 30th.

                           It seems like it is taking forever to get finished.

                                     Betsy has Timpview Band rehearsal every morning.

I met Jaron at Deseret Industries to bring some bed spring for my beds that I bought for my home in his truck.

                                 He helped me unload the bed springs into the bedrooms.

                                            I appreciate Jaron's help with his truck.

                                     I also bought pillows at Deseret Industries.

I hope that soon I will be able to use them to sleep on.  It seems like my home is taking forever to be built.

                                               They built steps in the garage.

                    I enjoy going over to my new home and taking pictures with my camera.

A man came to show us shutters for the windows.  I am afraid shutters will have to wait a while until I can afford them.

                           I found these canisters for flour, sugar and salt at Deseret Industries.

I Give Granddaughters Tour of Conference

I enjoy the displays in the director's office at the Conference Center.  This is the display that was upon June 29, 2016 when I served my shift at the Conference Center.

     My first tour was with this family from Mexico with their children and their mother.

They are always changing things around at the Conference Center for the different events being held there.

 My oldest grand daugher, Melanie, brought her five children from Springville for a tour.

                                             It was a great joy to give them a tour.

The children loved this painting of Christ visiting those in the American Continent after his resurrection.

Melanie is a good mother and took the opportunity to teach her children during the tour.

         Melanie is home schooling her children so this was a special field trip.

I enjoyed the opportunity also to teach my great grandchildren from the stories in the Book of Mormon.

The children sang the Primary song,k "Follow the Prophet" as we saw the sculptures of the latter-day Prophets.

The gospel is for every nation, kindred, tongue and people.  There are more members of the church  living outside  the United States than living here.

         I love the family of my granddaughter and great grandchildren.  This is a special family.

The flowers and grasses on the roof of the Conference Center are the ones you would see in the deserts of Nevada and California.

                       We enjoyed seeing the beautiful Salt Lake Temple from the roof.

              Melanie wanted one last picture of her children with their great grandmother.

Just after Melanie left another granddaughter Adrianne came for a tour.   They were closing the roof for tours shortly after Adrianne came so I started the tour with Adrianne on the roof.

      This is the beautiful fountain on the roof. It is directly over the podium in the auditorium.

                                                  We had a wonderful tour together.

I am happy that my grandchildren like to come to the Conference Center for me to give them tours.

Snowflake was named for Erastus Snow,an apostle and my great grandfather William Jordan Flake. This is Erasus Snow's portrait at the hall of the past apostles at the  Conference Center.

    These photos taken on June 30 show that little by little my home is being completed.

      I always enjoy looking  for any new thing that has been done on my home.

                                  The cabinet in the guest bathroom is almost done.

                                             We still lack the fence on the deck.

  I enjoy the stained glass in the entry way of my home.  It gives me the feeling of elegance.

There are lots of rocks in the front yard of my home  that will need to be landscaped.

   I love  the view of Mount Timp from my home looking toward Kenneth and Jenni's home.

Temple Square Garden Tour

Wednesday, June 29, 2016 I got to Temple Square early enough for a Garden Tour before time to start my shift at the Conference Center.

                   The tour started at the fountain in front of the Church Office Building.

          There were only three of us on the tour--two garden missionaries and myself. .

         One of the missionaries was teaching the other how to give the tour so we had a great tour.

                             There are flowers from all over the world at Temple Square.

 I wish that I could remember the names of all the trees and shrubs that they showed me on the tour.

                  This tree is used alot around Temple Square because it is easy to grow.

                                                 I like these beautiful white flowers.

Flowers grow good at Temple Square because the ground is warm because they are on top of the parking garages.

                                    It was a wonderful tour learning all about the plants.

                                              New plants are put in two times a year.

                                              I like the different color combinations.

                         The garden missionaries told me the names of all of these plants.

                                                              They are all so beautiful.

                                                                 I love to see the temple.

          There are sculptures of lions all around the base of the Joseph Smith Memorial.

This is the garden between the Joseph Smith Memorial and the Church Administration Building where our prophet and the quorum of twelve apostles have their offices.

                                    These are the two gardeners that took me on tour.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Satings maintains beautiful gardens on the thirty five acres around Temple Square.

            This is part of the fence that Brigham Young had around his farm in the 1850's.

                 There is a nice reception area back of the Lion House and the Beehive House.

                                         The rock wall adds to the beauty of the gardens.

                      I love all the beautiful well kept gardens around Temple Square.

The tour guides asked if I wanted my picture taken in front of the gate showing the rock walls and beautiful flowers.

This rock step belonged to Brigham Young.  He used it around 1855 to get in and out of his carriage.

            This was a wonderful tour.  I learned so much about flowers and trees and shrubs.

                                         I am standing in front of the Beehive House.

    I remember that we had hollyhocks in my childhood home in Snowflake, Arizona

                                              I love all these beautiful flowers.

                                             Each flower and shrub has its own beauty.
