A Memorable Saturday

Saturday, November 16, 2013 was a memorable day with lots of special experiences that I will long remember.
Melvin and Tami and children  stayed at Kenneth and Jenni's last night .
I always enjoy spending time with them.
It was snowing when we woke up and snowed most of the morning.

I went with Melvin and Tami and family to Springville to see Melanie and Nate's new home.
Melanie was standing on her front porch when we arrived.
They have a beautiful home with a nice back yard.
I saw this "We are Thankful" poster made by their children as soon as we arrived.

The children enjoyed all the fun toys in the basement.
They had a good time playing together.
                                                              I enjoyed watching them play.
Melanie and Nate's children have so many fun toys.
                                                  The cousins enjoyed playing together.
Their back yard looked like a park. They have a cement walk all around their back yard where the children can ride their tricycles or scooters.
Their garden is planted in boxes. Nate picked apples off of the apple tree to share with us.
What a fun playground with slides and swings.
This must be really beautiful in the spring with all the trees in their backyard.  They all enjoyed climbing into the tree house.
Nate and Melanie have a beautiful home.
I am so happy for them.  I enjoyed so much our visit.
When we drove back to Provo Melvin stopped at the BYU Creamery.
He treated us all to the famous BYU brownies.
It was time for the BYU Football Game.
We got to the stadium in time to watch the BYU Band march in.
The band adds lots of school spirit to the football games.
I saw my friend Emily who plays clarinet in the band.
It was snowing so the band wore their ponchos.
We walked into the BYU Football Stadium just after the band.
We were all prepared for the snowy weather.
We were amazed to go to the entrance where my granddaughter was taking tickets.
It was fun to see Emily busy at work.
The bass drum player let Lauren hit the drum.
Tanner also got a turn to hit the drum.
The BYU percussion put on a show for us before their pre-show.
It was great to visit with Emily.  I took her photo to send to her Mom in Ohio.
We met two Emily's on our way into the game.  This Emily is enjoying being in the band.
I appreciate Kenneth giving me a ticket to the BYU Football Game.
I enjoyed the band pre game show.
We all stood as the band played our national anthem.
Then we pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America..
The band helped welcome the football team out onto the field.
We sang the Cougar Fight Song.
This is the same song we sang years and years ago when I was a BYU student.
Steve Young was a famous BYU athlete.  His poster is in the stadium.
They also had the poster of Ty Detmer who is another famous BYU athlete.
BYU played football against Idaho State University.
This is BYU''s last home game of the year.
I had another exciting adventure thanks to Kenneth.
I got to fire two times the army cannon used in World War II.
I fired it when BYU made a touchdown.
The next person didn't have his waiver signed so I got to fire the cannon again when BYU's football team made the extra point.
They gave me a shirt that said, "I fired George Q".  Kenneth made a video of me firing the cannon.  On the video you can hear Kenneth saying, "That's my Mom".
Thanks Kenneth for another fun thing t hat I can cross off my bucket list and a wonderful memory.
It was as great game with BYU winning 59 to 13.
A lot of the action was in the end zone right where we were sitting.
It was so cold and snowy that it was hard to take pictures.
It was lots of fun to watch.
I have really enjoyed watching the BYU football games this year.
The words of the BYU Fight Song were up on the screen.
The band haft time show spotlighted the invitation that BYU has to go to a Bowl Game.  We left at Half Time to drive  up to Farmington.
The trees in front of Melvin and Tami's home still have beautiful fall leaves.
Kaitlyn and Ashley just returned from a Stake Youth Missionary  Activity.
Melvin and Tami invited  me and Kenneth and Jenni and Betsy to join Kaitlyn, and Ashley and them for dinner at the Olive Garden.
We enjoyed a great visit as we ate.
I enjoy being with my family.
This is what  t we saw as we looked up while we ate at the Olive Garden.

Melvin and Tami also gave us tickets to the concert performed by the Bells at Temple Square at the Tabernacle.
It was a wonderful program.  It is amazing  all the music that Bells can makes.  They were accompanied by a flute player and a Brass Ensemble for some of the numbers.
I especially enjoyed hearing them plasy "Adestre Fideles" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and their last number "Up on the Housetop".
The Salt Lake Temple lit up at night was beautiful.
                                                         I had a wonderful evening.
My family is great to show me a good time.
We walked  across the street to see the new Christmas window display at Deseret Book.
They are featuring a candy making machine.
It shows them making candy canes with the  sugar and syrup pumps.
Candy canes came ouf of the end.
We enjoyed putting a cloth into the pump and watching it blow out.  The girls had fun with this machine.

.                                                               This is a clever display.

Also featured at Deseret Book is the DVD of the Tabernacle Choir's last Christmas concert featuring the Candy Bomber.
They showed parachutes of candy coming down .

This is the view of the Salt Lake Temple from Deseret Book.
Melvin took me to the airport to fly back to Arizona early the next morning.
I enjoyed watching the sun rise from the plane.
The snow on the mountains ion Utah is spectacular.
I always enjoy coming home to Arizona.
I had a great time with my family.  I am so blessed.
