Levi's Baptism

Levi was excited to be baptized by his father on his 8th birthday, June 28, 2009
Levi with his parents before his baptism. They made it a very special day for him.
Levi's parents, brothers and sisters and grandparents at his baptism.
We were happy that we could be with our grandson Levi on this special day.
Levi is one of the newest members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Getting ready for Levi's Baptism

We have a family tradition to make a temple birthday cake for the 8 year old getting baptized.
Levi with his Temple Birthday cake. We had a great time making this together.

We gave Levi his own set of scriptures for his 8th Birthday and baptism and also a journal to record his feelings as he is baptized.

Evan received from us a book about the Priesthood and a book about Youth leading Youth. He will receive the Aaronic Priesthood after his birthday on Tuesday, June 30th.
Janae practices the song she sang at Levi's baptism, "If the Savior Stood Beside Me". Her mother accompanied her on the piano.

More Birthday Fun in Ohio

The boys had to work hard to break the Crazy Robot Pinata we made.
Evan was finally the one that broke the pinata and everyone scrambled for the goodies.

Levi had lots of special friends at his birthday party. They are planning a birthday party for Evan's 12th birthday when he feels like it after his surgery so that he will have something to look forward to.
Evan had a tumor removed from his brain when he was two years old and has been cancer free until now. A routine MRI shows the tumor growing back so he will have surgery again next week. We are all fasting and praying for his quick recovery.

The family already had scheduled a week on a houseboat so they will have a fun family vacation before Evan's surgery. Levi and Preston are trying on their life jackets as they get ready for the house boat.

Levi's Crazy 8th Birthday Party

Two of our grandsons in Ohio celebrated their birthdays while we were visiting. It is Levi's 8th birthday and Evan's 12th birthday.
I helped Levi make a crazy robot pinanta for his Crazy 8th Birthday party.

Levi's friends enjoyed hot dogs grilled by his Dad on the grill with all the trimmings. They enjoyed eating in the gazebo in their back yards.
Levi blows out the 8 candles on his crazy birthday cake. Levi is always having a good time.

One of the games they played at the party was a thimble full of water. Notice the pinata waiting to be broken.

Thoroughly Modern Millie

Our grandson, Dale Mortensen, had a great performance as Ching Ho in "Thoroughly Modern Millie". We watched him perform on June 22, 2009. He is so fun to watch.
Dale did a wonderful job speaking all his lines in Chinese since Ching Ho didn't speak English.

Dale plays the part of a henchman employed by sinister Mrs. Meers to help kidnap orphaned women to become white slaves. Ching Ho, played by Dale rescues Miss Dorothy and wins her heart.
It was a fun musical to watch. Our grandson loves acting and at the age of eleven has already been in many performances.
We look forward to many more fun performances from this talented grandson.

Father's Day

On this Father's Day, June 21, 2009 I am grateful for my eternal companion and the father of our children. I gave him a collage of pictures taken of the two of us at our unforgettable trip to Israel.
Amy invited us to dinner and gave her Dad a plaque which read, "Write your sorrows in sand and your blessings in stone".
Ray gave his Dad his favorite blueberry pie which we had for dessert.
Fred and Rauna and family visited in the evening and also Mark and Marlene and family.
Jay received calls from his other children scattered around the nation and Korea throughout the day. We had a great day together. We are so grateful for our father.

Dallin and Laura's Temple Wedding

Last Thursday, June 11th, our grandson Dallin and his beautiful bride, Laura, had a wonderful wedding in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They both look so happy as they begin their own eternal family. After the wedding we had a luncheon and then a beautiful reception at Val Vista Lakes. I like the picture I posted of our daughter Marlene and her family all in matching clothes for the wedding. Dallin's twin brother, Jordan and brother Carl came from BYU for the wedding and his sister, Melanie and her husband Nate and two great grandchildren came from California. They are a beautiful family. Jay and I are so grateful for our righteous posterity. We are so blessed.
