I flew to Hawaii to be with my grandson Tyler when he graduated from Kahuku High School on May 23, 2019.

He graduated with honors and was selected as one of valedictorians of his class.

Tyler was one of the class of 2019 graduates from the Kahuku High School.
His graduation was held in the Cannon Center at the Brigham Young University Hawaii campus.
On either side of the big screen they had posted the letters K R 4 L (Kahuku Raiders for life)
The graduating class came in and took their place on the stand.
The boys were wearing white graduation gowns and the girls red graduation gowns.
I counted 232 graduates from Kahuku High listed in the program.
After the welcome they had he posting of the colors.
They brought in both the American Flag and the Hawaiian Flag.
Tyler was one of eleven senior members of Vocal Motion that sang the National Anthem followed by theHawai'i Pono's.
The welcome and introductions was given by the Senior Class officers.
This was followed by the fifteen valedictorians each giving a short address.
Tyler was one of the valedictorians.
They named all the scholarship winners and school awards before the presentation of the diplomas.
We watched Tyler walk across the stage and get his diploma.
As soon as all the graduates got their diplomas the senior class president gave a farewell address.
They then did something that made a high school graduation in Hawaii different than any other graduation and an experience that I won't forget.
They moved the podium and a graduate in a wheel chair.
The graduating class of 2019 had what was listed in the program as a senior medley.
Different members of Tyler's senior class performed a variety of Hawaiian songs and dances portraying their heritage.
Tyler said they have been dismissed from school for two weeks to prepare this program.
It was fun to listen to all the music and dancing by the graduating class.
It was fun to watch all the singing and dancing by the senior class.
The graduates then left the auditorium and assembled alphabetically at the Little Circle by all the flags in front of the BYU Hawaii administration building with posters so that people could find them to give them leis.
Tyler's Hancock cousins came to part of his graduation ceremony. Levi also graduated from High School this year. Tyler and Levi plan to be roommates at BYU next year.
Ryan held up a poster showing Tyler so his friends would know where to come and find him.
I am happy to honor another grandchild on his graduation from High School. I know he will continue to do great things.
Tyler gave me as lei made from beautiful flowers with a wonderful fragrance.

Some of the graduates had so many leis around their neck that you could barely see their eyes. Leis were made out of things. I saw some leis made from folded dollar bills, others were braided, some had food onthemsuch as candy and Isaw a lei with a bag of potato chips fastened n it. This graduate even had a little inner tubes used as as lei. It was all very interesting.
I met Eric and Carolyn's grand daughter who was in Tyler's class. They are my neighbors in Provo.

Before Tyler left for a graduation party with his friends we had our own little graduation party at his home.
He received some gifts for some things he will need at Heritage Halls where he will be living at BYU.
