Three Grandsons in Hello Dolly

I enjoyed going three different times to watch my three grandsons perform in Mesa High School's Hello Dolly on March 25, 27, and 28, 2014. I couldn't help taking lots of pictures each night.  The pictures posted that I took on Thursday are marked * and the ones on Friday +.
It was a wonderful production.
Kyle was cast as Horace, one of the leads.
Dale was also one of the leads as Barnaby.
Quinn was in the ensemble and did lots of singing and dancing throughout the production.
Rauna decorated the foyer at Mesa High for the production.
The Victorian theme was very attractive.
Rauna did a great job on the foyer as we entered.
*Thursday night I took more pictures of the lobby that Rauna arranged.
*This time they had all the pictures up.
The orchestra playing the music added so much to the production.
"Hello Dolly" begins with a cute street scene.
Dolly is in town.  She makes a living through what she calls "meddling"--matchmaking and numerous sidelines.

*Quinn played lots of parts.  Here he is one of the townspeople.
                                             * Some of the marriages that Dolly arranged.

Dolly decides she is tired of being a widow.
She is currently seeking a wife for grumpy Horace
But it becomes clear that she wants to marry Horace for his money/.
Cornelius and Barnaby (played by Dale) are Horace's two clerks in  his store.
                                               +They work in the basement.
+Barnaby played by Dale goes back to his  work.

I think this is a cute picture of Dale and Allan.
Horace tells Cornelius he is promoting him to the same job he has had for years.  Cornelius asks if that means he can now get a half day off and is told no.
Horace (played by Kyle) explains to his clerks that he is going to get married because it take a woman to cheerfully do all the household chores.
Horace and the men in the cast sing "It Takes a Woman"

+The men in the cast do lots of cute dancing in this number.
                                                              *This is a cute song.
The men  had fun with it.
You can see Quinn who is in the ensemble in these pictures I took.
*
*I was able to catch this cute picture of Kyle and Dale.

"O yes, it takes a woman, A fragile woman To bring you the sweet things of life"
*The men in the cast are having so much fun.

'                                 "And so she'll work until infinity, Three cheers for femininity"
"O Yes it takes a woman, A dainty woman, A sweetheart, a mistress, a wife

"O yes, it takes a woman, A fragile woman,

+  To bring you the sweet things in life".
The men in the cast had fun with this number.
*Dolly travels to Yonkers to visit Horace, who is a prominent citizen that she has her eye on.

+Cornelius and Barnaby go back to work.

Horace plans to travel to New York City
to march in the Fourteenth Street Association Parade
and propose to the widow Irene Molloy, who owns a hat shop there.
Dolly "accidently" mentions that Irene's first husband might not have died of natural causes.
and also that she knows an heiress Miss  Money, who may be interested in Horace. Horace leaves for New York .
*He tells Cornelius and Barnaby to run the store.
                                    *   Cornelius and Barnaby decide they need some excitement in life..
Cornelius decides that he and Barnaby need to get out of Yonkers.
Dolly tells Ermengarde and Ambrose that she'll enter them in the polka competition at the upscale Harmonia Gardens Restaurant in New York City so Ambrose can demonstrate his ability to be a breadwinner to Horace.
Cornelius tells Barnaby that they will go to New York, have a good meal
spend all their money, see the stuffed whale in the museum,

                                                              +almost get arrested
+ and each kiss a girl..
 *  Barnaby reminds him that they don't know any girls but he says that he is 38 1/2 years old
*and he has to start some time.
. They blow up some tomato cans to create a terrible stench and a good alibi to close the store.

*They take off their aprons and are off for New York.
*Dale is such a cute actor.
*The next scene is at the Yonker's Train Station.
                                                  * They sing "Put on Your Sunday Clothes"
                                                          +This is another cute dance.
*The umbrellas add to the scene.

*Its fun to see the young people having a good time.
                                     .

This is another cute dance with Cornelius, Barnaby, Dolly, Ambrose, Emengardde and the ensemble.
I like the enthusiasm and fun that they put into their song and dance.
+Minnie waits for Irene to come to open up the hat shop.
Cornelius and Barnaby after walking around New York all day stop at Irene's hat shop.

                                                            * They peek in the window.
Irene  told her shop assistant that she wants a husband, but does not love Horace. She declares that she will wear an elaborate hat to impress a gentleman.
Cornelius and Barnaby see two pretty girls inside and decide to go in.
+They will  pretend to be rich..
+The clerks keep looking out the window to see if they see their boss.
                                                            *They decide to hide.
*Cornelius is trying to explain why they are there.
+He tells her that they need to hide.

*Barnaby tries on some of the hats.
*Horace arrives for his date with Irene and brings her some chocolate covered peanuts in the shell. as a gift.

*Dolly arrives.
Dolly told Horace that she would meet him in front of the Dress  shop.
This was a cute scene as Cornelius and Barnaby try to hide from their Horace, their boss.
Dolly , Irene, Minnie start singing the lively tune of "Motherhood March" to distract Horace.
                                        * Cornelius and Barnaby hide in the closet and under the table.
+Horace storms out when he realizes there are men hiding in the shop, but not knowing they are his clerks.
* Dolly arranges for Cornelius and Barnaby, who are still pretending to be rich, to take the ladies out to dinner to the Harmonia Gardens restaurant to make up for their humiliation.
+ Cornelius and Barnaby don't want to go because they don't know how to dance and they always have dancing at such establishments..
*Dolly tells them that she will teach them how to dance ..
*They perform to the music "Dancing"

*This is another cute musical number..
*They have a hard time learning to dance.
+Barnaby needs help
Dale is so fun to watch.
                                                                 He is a fun actor.
He makes every scene he is in fun.
*They are excited when they finally learn to dance.
+Barnaby and Cornelius decide that dancing is fun.
They are joined by  the other dancers..
                                                    +This is another cute scene.
You can see Quinn in this photo and the cute dance steps of the entire group.
It is so fun to see young people having a good time acting and singing.
    * Dolly decides to put her dear departed husband Ephraim behind her and to move on with life "Before the Parade Passes By".
                                         The 14th Street Association Parade.
The parade was fun with a band and flags.

The parade was fun to watch.
                                                           I have always liked parades.
                                                                   The music was great.
The audience started clapping to the band music.
+This is a cute picture showing Quinn juggling in the parade.
*These next five pictures are ones that I took of the parade on Thursday night when I was sitting back further.

Dolly catches up with the annoyed Horace who has missed the whole parade and she convinces him to give her matchmaking one more chance.

+She  tells him that Ernestina Money would be perfect for him.  This ends act one.
Act two begins with the boys telling the girls that walking shows that they have elegance.
+Since they have no money for the carriage.
+Cornelius keeps having Barnaby count their money.
*Since they have no money for a carriage.
                                                            *This is another cute scene.
*The music adds so much to the production.
This is a cute picture of them walking through the streets of New York to the Harmonia Gardens Restaurant.
The waiter waits for them to order. Cornelius and Barnaby check how much money they have. Every time he counts it there is less.  Cornelius tells Barnaby that they can't afford to have him count it again.
+  Horace arrives with  his date, Ernestina Money.

+ She proves neither rich or elegant as Dolly has implied.
+ Miss Money dances on the table.
                                                                                                                                 This embarrasses Horace.
+ She soon gets bored and leaves.
+This is just as Dolly planned she would.

Rudolph the head waiter prepares his waiters for Dolly Levi's return.
He tells them that they must be "twice as lighting"
The waiters perform "The Waiters' Gallop"
*The waiter waits for their order.  They try to change what the girls want to order..
The boys are worried about paying for the food.  Barnaby counts the money again.  Every time he   counts it there is less.  Cornelius tells Barnaby that they can't afford to have him count it again.

Quinn is the waiter in the middle.  He was so cute.
The waiters continue their "Waiter's Gallup"
They had some cute dance steps.
*Dolly arrives at the  Harmonia Gardens Restasurat
*I enjoy the catchy tune of "Hello Dolly"

+ Horace keeps telling Dolly that he does not like beets but she gives it to him anyway
+  Dolly keeps saying "You go your way and I will go mine"
Barnaby (Dale) and Horace (Kyle) hail waiters at the same time, and in the ensuing confusion each drops his wallet and inadvertently picks u the others.   Barnaby is delighted that he can now pay the restaurant bill, while Horace finds only a little spare change.  Barnaby and Cornelius try to sneak out during "The Polka Contest",
but Horace recognizes them and spots Ermengarde and Ambrose as well.

                                                             They then have a free-for-all

*He says that he has no job and no money.
* He says that even if he has to dig ditches the rest of his life, he'll never forget the day because he had met Irene.
Cornelius, Barnaby, and Ambrose then each profess their love for their companion and they sing, "It Only Takes a Moment" which is another beautiful song.
Dolly convinces the judge that their only crime was being  in love.
The judge finds everyone innocent and cleared of all charge.
Dolly says that Horace is guilty and has to pay charges.
